MYOB - Client is paying his wife $300 per week to run errands, clean etc.. he would like to pay $50 per week to her super and tried to change the superannuation set up to do this each pay period however it changed it for the other employees also.. Could I suggest a good way to do this? Client discussed setting her up on a salary but wasn't sure if that would work either so called for advice.
Never change the Super SG payroll category! – It is for the required Super Guarantee 9% after $450 is earned a month and applies to full time and casual and part-time employees!
To do $50 per week for the wife, you set up ANOTHER super category just for the wife as Salary Sacrifice.
Go to her card -
>Payroll Details tab
>Superannuation on LHS
>Actions >Create New Payroll Category
>Name “Salary Sacrifice Wife/or Name”
>Linked Payable Account is the SGC Superannuation account as in 5 next
>Salary Sacrifice (deduction)
>Print on Pay Advice
>Calculation Basis tick Equals $50.00 (type in) Dollars per Pay Period
Like this
Then tick this in the list for the wife in the Super area.
In a pay run this category will DEDUCT $50 from her pay – so if Paul still wants her to get $300, need to raise her pay to $350 per week – and less the $50 which will show as needing to be paid with all the super to pay, it will be recorded and handled correctly.
If she is set for salary change it to $350 hourly, which is 350x52 weeks – 18,200 salary PA.
If she is set for hourly, change the hours or rate (– ask Paul which he wants changed) to make it $350 a week.
In her pay when processing payroll, it should come up Base Salary/Hourly line with $350, and the Salary Sacrifice line with -$50 leaving a net $300.
Then there are super reports by Super fund and select the month, to tell what is due to pay – summary (and detail reports).
